Because of this however I had to remove a good portion of the artwork. All the open edition photographs and older mixed media work has been removed.

This artwork isn't gone however, just moved to another website. In al little while all photographs will be available through the new Sjimera Photo Gallery and all mixed media artwork will be available through the Sjimera Art Gallery.

Since I have to move house within the next few weeks and probably be without any internetconnection for a while it may take some time for these new websites to be up and running. 

Also I may not be able to check my email for longer periods of time. So please don't get nervous when I don't reply immediately. I will send out a new rss item as soon as things are back to normal again.

Tree new images were added to the Acquoso series. All are black and white close up photographs of the splashing waves created by a boat on the river. These photographs were taken while standing on the poop deck of the boat creating the waves.

Five new photographs were added to the Takkewerk series. Both black and white and duotoned photographs depicting gnarly trees, as well as a full color photograph of branches with golden autumnal leaves against a blue sky.

Fleuralia:
Like the Floral Abstractions series, Fleuralia is a series of close-up photographs of flowers. Unlike the Floral Abstractions series these photographs are less abstract because they show the whole flower rather than just a small detail of it. 

Still these photographs reveal the subtle colors, structures and patterns as well as the tender vulnarability of the flowers. By showing more of the flower also the beatiful forms and patterns of the whole are visible.

Personally I feel this set of photographs expresses more feeling and emotion than the more abstract images in the Floral Abstractions series. In creating this series my attention was more directed towards capturing the personality and feeling of the flower while still showing its breathtaking beauty.

Just like the Floral Abstractions series, Floral Abstractions 2 is a series of macro and close-up photographs of flowers, mushrooms, leaves and other floral objects. By going extremely close and often choosing an unusual angle or backlighting the photographs become near abstract images that entice with their colors and patterns and reveal the beauty of these delicate objects.

As always and I hope you will enjoy looking at these photographs as much as I have enjoyed creating them.

Takkewerk consists of photographs of leafless, gnarly trees. Much like the mixed media Kronkels series. (Read the full story here)

Access Denied deals with the theme of captivity, limitations and building fences. (Read the full story here)

The section is now split in 4 seperate chapters: mixed media artwork, limited edition photographs, open edition photographs and digital artwork. Each chapter starts with an indexpage that has a (linked) thumbnail for each series. The chapters can be reached through the menu on the my art homepage 

The evergrowing Floral Abstractions series was split in 2 parts. A selection of the photographs in this series is transferred to the Floral Abstractions 2 series in the open edition photo chapter. No worries though, any photographs of this series that were previously sold, were sold before the upgrade to limited edition. Thus nobody gets hurt in the process.

Main reason to add several open edition series is to be able to make more of my artwork available for everyone, meaning at more affordable prices. For this same reason another change was made: all limited edition photographs are now available in more (smaller) sizes and also as unframed prints on paper or prints on canvas.

If all is well none of the old links are broken and any bookmarks should still lead to the bookmarked pages.

No new artwork is uploaded yet. This will be done in the next week.

Further I was accepted as a member of Artspecifier.com, an art platform that links artists to buyers and licensing companies.

The start of a new photoseries named 'Looks'

Looks is a series of photographs that focus on facial expressions, specifically the eyes of animals. Even though the photographs were taken with a long telelens from a large enough distance not to disturbe the animals, they are all clearly conscious of being photographed. It is quite interesting to see how different animals react to it. From downright agressive to flattered by the attention. 

Looking at the small images on a computerscreen it is almost impossible to imagine the impact these 'looks' have when viewing the photographs on the really large format (120 x 80 cm).

When I visit such a place, watch the water jump over rocks and plunge into the deep, hear the sound of the rushing, splashing water, I feel the mighty power of life flush through me. A supershot of cleansing, replenishing, rejuvenating positive energy that makes my blood sparkle and makes me feel strong and vital enough to move mountains. Typically places I visit when feeling down or quenched and depleted. Even just looking at these photographs inspires and vitalises me.
